ASM International anchors new High Tech Campus in Almere
Almere is taking a significant step toward becoming a new high-tech hub in the Netherlands. Semiconductor equipment maker ASM International has chosen the city for its global headquarters, becoming the first company to move into the new High Tech Campus Almere.
The decision was confirmed through an agreement between ASM, the municipality of Almere, and the province of Flevoland, with backing from the national government. For the city, attracting ASM is seen as an important milestone in positioning Almere as a destination for advanced technology and innovation.
ASM’s move is expected to create hundreds of highly skilled jobs and involve investments of several hundred million euros. At the new campus, the company plans to build a research and development center, a training facility, and a clean room for advanced semiconductor work. These facilities support ASM’s role in the global semiconductor supply chain.
Local and regional authorities also see broader benefits. ASM’s arrival could help attract other technology companies, strengthen links between businesses, universities, investors, and government, and open up new career opportunities for local residents.
The project fits into Almere’s wider ambition to become the Netherlands’ fifth major high-tech region, alongside Eindhoven, Delft, Twente, and the Arnhem–Nijmegen area. With ASM establishing its global headquarters there, the city is taking a clear step toward that goal.
