$1B in Revenue, $235B in Volume—Now Airwallex Is Using AI to Rewrite Global Banking
Airwallex, a leading global financial platform for modern businesses, has raised $330 million in a Series G funding round at an $8 billion valuation, marking roughly a 30% increase from its Series F just six months earlier. Try Dealroom →, as investors doubled down on Airwallex’s vision of building the financial infrastructure for a borderless, real-time and intelligent economy. The new capital will fuel the company’s continued expansion in the U.S. and other key markets, and deepen its investment in AI-powered financial products.
As part of the raise, Airwallex has designated San Francisco as a second global headquarters, positioning its product, engineering, strategic partnerships and go-to-market teams at the center of the global AI ecosystem. The company plans to deploy more than $1 billion from 2026 to 2029 to scale its U.S. operations, expand office space and attract top talent. With annualized revenue surpassing $1 billion and transaction volume topping $235 billion as of October 2025, Airwallex is using the Series G round to sharpen its presence in North America while continuing to build out its platform in Europe, Asia-Pacific, Latin America and the Middle East.
At the core of Airwallex’s strategy is an AI-first finance platform that aims to automate complex financial operations for over 200,000 customers worldwide. The company is rolling out specialized AI agents that can execute real-world workflows across payments, treasury and spend—handling tasks like expense submission, policy checks and procure-to-pay orchestration with minimal human intervention. These agents are powered by Airwallex’s proprietary global infrastructure and rich transactional data, which spans global accounts, multi-currency payment acceptance, FX, cards, billing and spend management, all built on top of one of the world’s most comprehensive sets of banking licenses.
Founded in Melbourne in 2015 and now co-headquartered in San Francisco and Singapore with more than 2,000 employees across 26 offices, Airwallex has grown into a core infrastructure provider for companies that need to operate across borders from day one. With this Series G round, the company is signaling that the next phase of competition in fintech will be defined not just by global coverage, but by intelligent automation—using AI to compress manual back-office work, speed up month-end close, and give finance teams a single, real-time view of money moving in and out of the business. If Airwallex delivers on its “agentic finance” roadmap, it could emerge as one of the key platforms powering truly borderless, software-driven global banking.
