The firm now has an eight-person team and a portfolio that reflects its focus on enterprise software and B2B technologies.
6 Degrees Capital aims to back startups that pair strong technical foundations with early commercial traction. The firm’s investment in Conveo illustrates this approach: the Antwerp-based startup compresses months of traditional customer-research work into automated processes that cost a fraction of existing methods. For 6DC, such companies represent what it calls a “practical” use of AI—solutions that deliver immediate value rather than speculative long-term promises.
Volckaert frames the current market as favourable for early-stage investment, noting that the correction in technology valuations between 2021 and 2023 has created opportunities to enter at more reasonable prices.
The firm follows a diversified strategy, backing 30 companies with the expectation that a small number will drive most of the fund’s returns, in line with the Pareto principle that often shapes venture outcomes.
While 6DC focuses on European startups, the partners argue that Europe is stronger in AI and enterprise software than is often assumed. They see particular opportunity in B2B applications of AI, an area where Europe’s regulatory stability, academic strength and established corporate-technology markets offer clear advantages over the more consumer-oriented US ecosystem.
