HyperVault has been established as a joint venture in which TCS will hold a 51% majority stake, with TPG expected to take between 27.5% and 49%. Both companies plan to invest a combined ₹180 billion (around $2 billion) over the coming years to develop gigawatt-scale capacity designed specifically for AI workloads.
TCS announced its intention to enter the data-centre market last month, outlining plans to build up to 1.2 GW of capacity, requiring investments of $6.5 billion to $7 billion.
HyperVault will form the core of that effort, giving TCS a dedicated vehicle to expand into high-growth digital-infrastructure markets as enterprises increase their reliance on cloud computing, high-performance infrastructure and generative-AI systems.
The venture is expected to develop multiple sites across India equipped with AI-ready networking, power and thermal systems, targeting both domestic and international demand for compute capacity. TCS said the partnership will support its goal of helping establish India as a significant node in the global AI-compute ecosystem.
The move comes amid a broader surge in global investment in AI-specific data-centre capacity. Major technology firms are committing significant capital—Microsoft has announced tens of billions in AI-data-centre expansion, while OracleDealroom has a profile for this one.
