The company aims to unify the fragmented data and tools found across factory environments and provide a software layer capable of coordinating machines, processes and human operators.
The Stockholm-based startup raised a previously undisclosed $10.7 million pre-seed round in May, which allowed the founders to hire 15 former Northvolt colleagues, forming a team with experience in high-volume industrial operations.
Aris Machina’s platform is intended to address common challenges in advanced manufacturing, including rising data volumes, disconnected systems and reliance on specialist expertise. Its approach combines AI agents with knowledge graphs to interpret machine data, documentation and sensor signals, enabling faster diagnosis and more consistent decision-making.
The company is launching two applications: Protos, an R&D workspace for design and modelling, initially focused on battery cells; and Gemba, a manufacturing workspace to support troubleshooting, process control and traceability. Although the first use cases are in battery production, the founders see wider applications across semiconductors, aerospace, robotics and biopharma.
Aris Machina has tested its system on data from an unnamed facility to ensure it performs under real production conditions. The long-term aim is to provide an intelligence layer that helps factories operate more efficiently and eventually support more autonomous forms of manufacturing.
