Whop's Gen Z Earnings Platform Reaches $2B GTV and $142M ARR

Whop, the New York–based marketplace and infrastructure platform for digital services, has surpassed $2 billion in gross transaction volume and reached $142 million in annual recurring revenue , marking one of the steepest growth curves among recent consumer-facing software companies.

Founded in 2021 by Steven SchwartzDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → , the startup has become a key hub for Gen Z creators and online entrepreneurs who earn income outside traditional employment.

Whop operates as both a services marketplace and a selling infrastructure provider , giving users the tools to package and monetise digital products, gated communities, software tools and other access-based offerings. Payments, authentication, permissions and customer management are all built into the platform — a structure often described as “Shopify for digital access.”

This dual model underpins Whop’s momentum: infrastructure draws in supply, aggregated supply attracts demand, and marketplace activity compounds growth.

The company now serves more than 60,000 sellers offering services that range from online education and trading tools to membership communities and niche productivity products. Though still relatively under the radar in mainstream tech circles, Whop is increasingly viewed as critical infrastructure for a generation building income streams online.
