The $140M Chip Bet That Could Unleash a New Wave of AI Super-Networks
Celero Communications, a young but highly ambitious player in AI infrastructure, has secured a total of $140 million to accelerate the rollout of its high-performance coherent DSP technology for next-generation data centers. The funding includes a recent $100 million Series B round led by CapitalG, Alphabet’s independent growth fund, layered on top of earlier seed and Series A investments totaling $40 million from Sutter Hill Ventures and investors such as Valor Equity Partners, Atreides Management and Maverick Silicon. Announced on November 17, 2025, the raise positions Celero to go after the rapidly expanding market for coherent optical connectivity at the heart of modern AI infrastructure.
At the core of Celero’s story is its coherent DSP platform, which provides the signal processing “brain” behind high-bandwidth optical links connecting AI accelerators within clusters and across geographically distributed data centers. As AI architectures scale from racks to massive multi-cluster networks, traditional connectivity approaches are hitting hard limits in bandwidth, power and cost. Celero’s technology is designed to unlock more efficient, scalable optical interconnects, helping operators squeeze more performance per watt and per dollar out of their AI networks while easing key bottlenecks that threaten to slow model and cluster growth.
The company brings serious industry pedigree. Celero was founded in 2024 by Nariman Yousefi and Oscar Agazzi, former senior executives at Marvell, Inphi, Broadcom and ClariPhy who have shipped multiple generations of coherent DSPs and networking ICs into carrier and cloud markets. Headquartered in Irvine, California, with design centers in Canada and Argentina, Celero combines deep analog, digital signal processing and system architecture expertise to rethink how large-scale AI networks are stitched together. Backers like CapitalG and Sutter Hill Ventures have also taken board seats, signaling a long-term commitment to building a franchise player in AI optical connectivity.
With AI entering a new phase of hyperscale deployment, Celero’s raise comes at what the company and its investors describe as a key inflection point for accelerated computing. The new capital is expected to support product development, silicon and system integration, and go-to-market efforts with leading cloud, AI and networking customers. If Celero can execute on its roadmap, its coherent DSP innovation could become one of the critical enablers for linking together the next generation of massive AI clusters—quietly powering the optical nervous system that allows trillion-parameter models and global AI fabrics to actually run at scale.
