Sofinnova Partners Closes $750 Million Fund to Back Early-Stage Healthcare Innovation

Sofinnova Partners, one of Europe’s longest-established life-sciences venture firms, has closed $750 million for its latest flagship vehicle, Sofinnova Capital XI , significantly exceeding its initial target.

The new fund will focus on early-stage biotechnology, medtech and digital health companies , reinforcing the firm’s role as a leading investor in healthcare innovation across Europe and the United States.

Founded in 1972 and headquartered in Paris , Sofinnova now manages more than $4 billion across seven specialised strategies. These span company creation, seed-stage investments, industrial biotech, and late-stage opportunities, giving the firm a broad platform to support entrepreneurs from early scientific discovery through to clinical and commercial development.

Capital XI extends Sofinnova’s long-running series of life-sciences funds, which have backed many of Europe’s most prominent biotech companies. Strong interest from returning LPs and new global backers contributed to the fund’s oversubscription, despite a challenging environment for private-market fundraising.

The fund will target early-stage teams developing treatments and technologies for unmet medical needs, with particular emphasis on advances in AI-driven drug discovery , gene and cell therapies , and digital therapeutics . Sofinnova aims to support academic spinouts and emerging platforms with the potential for long-term clinical and commercial impact.
