Rubio Announces First Close of €70M Fund to Scale Impact-Driven Ventures
Amsterdam-based Rubio Impact Ventures has announced the first close of its third fund at €70 million , marking a significant step in its mission to back early-stage companies that combine measurable impact with scalable commercial models. The firm expects to reach its final close with €111 million in the coming months
Founded in 2014, Rubio Impact Ventures has built a reputation for a disciplined and transparent approach to impact investing. The firm is distinctive in tying 100 percent of its carried interest to verified impact outcomes, meaning fund managers’ rewards depend on achieving measurable environmental or social results alongside financial returns.
Fund III continues Rubio’s focus on early-stage companies across Western Europe , particularly those addressing systemic challenges in two main areas: People Power (education, inclusion, health, and equal opportunity) and Planet Paradise (climate technology, circular economy, and sustainable food systems). Investments typically range from pre-seed to Series A, with Rubio providing both capital and strategic support to help founders strengthen impact measurement and operational growth.
The first close reflects increasing investor confidence in impact-led venture capital, as sustainability and accountability become mainstream priorities within the European investment landscape.
Led by managing partners Willemijn Verloop and Machtelt Groothuis, the firm applies rigorous due diligence to quantify potential impact and monitor results across its portfolio. This approach has positioned Rubio as one of Europe’s leading voices in institutionalising impact metrics within venture capital.
