From Paperwork to Platform: EvenUp’s Mission to Modernize Justice
EvenUp is reimagining how personal injury law works — a field long defined by paperwork, uneven access, and slow-moving claims. The San Francisco startup uses AI to automate the preparation of injury cases, helping law firms quickly generate demand letters, review evidence, and calculate fair settlement values. The goal is simple but ambitious: to close the “justice gap” that leaves many victims undercompensated because their cases are too costly or complex to pursue.
Its core engine, called Piai, is trained on hundreds of thousands of past cases and millions of medical records, learning how to replicate the reasoning of experienced legal teams at scale. What once required weeks of manual work — compiling records, estimating damages, writing detailed case summaries — can now be done in minutes. More than 2,000 law firms already use EvenUp’s tools to handle over 10,000 cases per week, contributing to more than $10 billion in settlements to date.
By digitizing and standardizing a process that has historically relied on human bandwidth, EvenUp is making injury law faster, more transparent, and more equitable. Its $150 million Series E round, led by Bessemer Venture Partners, isn’t just another tech raise — it’s a signal that one of the oldest, most opaque corners of the legal system is finally getting an upgrade.
