Trogenix Lands $95 to Deliver Curative Therapies for Aggressive Cancers
In Edinburgh, a small biotech with a big idea just pulled off one of Europe’s largest early-stage raises this year. Trogenix secured $95 million in Series A funding to pursue what it calls a curative approach to cancer — a bold goal in a field defined by incremental progress. Its science is built around a “Trojan horse” concept: delivering therapeutic payloads directly into tumours to destroy them from within.
The company’s core technology, a platform named Odysseus , merges gene therapy vectors with synthetic super-enhancers — engineered DNA sequences designed to precisely activate or silence genes inside tumour cells. The result is a two-pronged attack: wake up the immune system and induce the cancer’s own collapse. It’s a strikingly ambitious bet that blends synthetic biology and oncology in a way few have tried before.
Trogenix’s first target is glioblastoma , a notoriously aggressive brain cancer with almost no curative options. Clinical trials are set to begin in early 2026 , with additional programs for colorectal, liver, and lung cancers already in development. Each represents a high-risk, high-reward frontier — diseases where new biology could change patient outcomes if the science holds.
The funding round was led by IQ Capital , joined by 4BIO Capital , Cancer Research Horizons , the Brain Tumor Investment Fund , and Astra-Lilly . For investors, this is more than a biotech bet; it’s a wager on a new model of cancer treatment — one that could shift the narrative from managing cancer to curing it. Whether Trogenix can deliver remains to be seen, but the scale of belief behind this round suggests many are willing to take that leap.
