Crusoe Expands to Gulf, backed by Oman Investment Authority and Mubadala

Crusoe Energy Systems, a Denver-based clean computing company, began its international expansion into the Middle East in 2022 with backing from Oman Investment Authority and Abu Dhabi’s Mubadala Investment Company. The investment supports Crusoe’s plan to deploy its Digital Flare Mitigation® technology across the region, where countries like Oman and the UAE still account for significant gas flaring. Crusoe’s system captures and uses flared natural gas—usually wasted and environmentally harmful—to power data centers for cloud and computing applications, drastically cutting methane and CO₂ emissions.

The partnership aligns with both Oman and Abu Dhabi’s goals to advance sustainability while diversifying their economies beyond oil and gas. Oman’s sovereign fund also signed an MOU with Crusoe to further explore local applications of the technology. Mubadala praised Crusoe’s approach as a bridge between energy and technology—turning wasted resources into power for high-performance computing and cloud infrastructure. The collaboration forms part of Crusoe’s $350 million Series C round, led by climate-focused investors G2 Venture Partners, and will also accelerate the rollout of CrusoeCloud™, a low-carbon computing platform.

Founded to “align the future of computing with the future of the climate,” Crusoe has already deployed nearly 100 flare-powered data centers in the U.S., preventing billions of cubic feet of gas from being burned and cutting emissions equivalent to taking 140,000 cars off the road.
