SF's hot AI computer vision startup made in Sweden and built in Armenia

SuperAnnotate AI, a full-stack AI data infrastructure company, spun out of Stockholm's  KTH Royal Institute of Technology.  Its founder  Vahan Petrosyan had moved to Sweden to complete his PhD, and in doing so, went on to develop SuperAnnotate's core technology together with Oscar Örnberg. He was later joined by his brother and fellow researcher from ETH Zurich as co-founder.

Founded in 2018 by Vahan (now CEO ) and his brother Tigran Petrosyan (now President ), the company was first launched in Sweden where the core R&D was completed.

SuperAnnotate is based in San Francisco, where the Petrosyan brothers moved as they were admitted in the  University of California, Berkeley’s SkyDeck accelerator,  a page-turner in their ambition to scale their idea.

The company eventually stayed there and scaled commercially - and raised the bulk of the capital fuelling its growth from a mix of European (Point 9,  Runa) and American (Dell, Nvidia,

And to date, central to SuperAnnotate's strategic advantage lies its  product and engineering teams , mainly based out of the Petrosyan brothers' homeland:  Armenia .
