Ambience Healthcare, a San Francisco–based ambient AI platform for clinical documentation and workflow automation, has closed a landmark $243 million Series C round , bringing its valuation to approximately $1.25 billion . The round was co-led by Oak HC/FT and Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) , with support from existing backers like the OpenAI Startup Fund , Kleiner Perkins , and Optum Ventures , as well as new investors including Town Hall Ventures , Frist Cressey , Smash Capital , Georgian , and Founders Circle Capital .
Ambience’s platform leverages proprietary AI reasoning models seamlessly integrated into EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, athenahealth) to automatically generate clinical documentation, accurate ICD-10 codes, and structured charts in real time. Using ambient listening , it captures clinician-patient interactions and outputs billed-ready notes , compliance validation, and patient summaries without workflow disruption.
The platform is deployed across more than 40 U.S. health systems , including the Cleveland Clinic , UCSF Health , and Houston Methodist , and supports over 200 medical specialties . Cleveland Clinic recently signed a five-year system-wide contract following a six-month pilot. Ambience has earned strong operational metrics, including 97.7% customer satisfaction in independent evaluations.
Ambience has now raised $345 million to date , including a $70M Series B in early 2024. Its technology automates documentation effectively—reducing clinician chart time by up to 45% , boosting revenue cycle integrity, improving compliance, and alleviating burnout. The platform is viewed as foundational to solving the $1.5 trillion healthcare administrative burden in the U.S.
