New Backing Fuels Synthego’s Next-Gen Enzyme Launches and Product Evolution
Synthego , a leading CRISPR solutions provider based in Redwood City, California, has successfully completed the acquisition of substantially all its assets by funds managed by Perceptive Advisors , a well-established life-sciences investment firm managing approximately $7–8 billion in assets . The transaction officially closed on July 18, 2025 , following regulatory clearance in June.
Under new ownership, Synthego will continue its operations as usual—maintaining its brand, leadership team, and customer support structure. Manufacturing of its industry-leading guide RNA (gRNA) products will remain in the U.S. at its Redwood City facilities.
This acquisition provides Synthego with a strengthened financial foundation to accelerate innovation and broaden its product offerings. Recently, the company launched a GMP version of SpCas9 and introduced new gene-editing enzymes, including eSpOT‑ON and Accubase™ , alongside expanded guide RNA options.
From an investor perspective, the deal reinforces Synthego’s strategic mission to empower genomic engineering applications. Continuity in operations, U.S.-based manufacturing, and enhanced capital position the company well to support global research and therapeutic development.
