From a Mistaken Meeting to a Breakout Investment: Emblem’s Lovable Story

Emblem’s early investment in Lovable , now one of Europe’s fastest-growing tech companies, began with an unlikely coincidence. Shortly after the first close of its debut fund, Emblem’s Guillaume Durao mistakenly struck up a conversation with the wrong person at a Stockholm café. That encounter turned out to be with Dan McCormick of Greens Ventures, who later introduced him to Lovable’s co-founder Anton Osika —setting in motion Emblem’s eventual participation in the company’s pre-seed round in autumn 2023.

Despite having no prior relationship, Emblem quickly aligned with Anton’s vision and secured a meaningful allocation in the round. Since then, the relationship has evolved into a close collaboration, with Emblem providing ongoing support to Lovable during its early growth phase.

Looking back, Emblem acknowledges that Anton’s rise as a founder exceeded all expectations. His leadership has shaped Lovable’s culture and public-facing vision, championing accessible product-building and creativity in a way that has resonated across the startup ecosystem. The experience has served as a reminder of the unpredictable and unstructured nature of seed-stage investing—where decisions are often driven by instinct and timing, and where investors must remain humble about their role in the journey of the companies they support.
