Sunsave Expands Solar Access for UK Homeowners

Sunsave, a London-based energy startup, has secured £113 million in funding to make rooftop solar more accessible to homeowners across England and Wales. The round includes a mix of equity and debt, backing the company’s vision of removing one of the biggest barriers to solar adoption: high upfront costs.

Launched in early 2024, Sunsave offers a solar subscription model that allows customers to install panels without paying anything upfront. Instead, they pay a fixed monthly fee over 20 years. The idea is simple—help households save on energy bills from day one, while handling everything from maintenance to insurance behind the scenes. Homeowners keep full ownership of the system, with no surprise fees or buyout clauses.

The model is gaining traction quickly. Sunsave reports strong month-over-month growth and is aiming to install solar systems on 10,000 homes in the near term. The company also plans to expand into adjacent offerings like EV chargers and smart energy tools, with the goal of becoming a one-stop platform for home energy management.

As energy prices fluctuate and households look for cleaner, more stable solutions, Sunsave is betting that its model will resonate with a growing segment of climate-conscious consumers—those who want to lower their bills and their carbon footprint without the complexity of traditional installations.
