The company was founded in November 2022 by Professor Luquan Ren, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Professor Lei Ren, a tenured professor at the University of Manchester. The firm's technological foundation is the "Bionic Tension-Compression Body Robot Theory and Technology," pioneered by co-founder Professor Lei Ren. This approach imitates the biomechanics of the human musculoskeletal system, where rigid bones bear pressure and flexible components like muscles and ligaments handle tension, enabling the development of highly biomimetic robots. The Y-Hand series is noted for its high degrees of freedom (DOF), with the Y-Hand M2 model featuring 38 DOF, and the lightweight Y-Hand M1 weighing only 299.7g while integrating 26 DOF. In contrast, the X-Hand series is a rigid dexterous hand designed for standardized industrial scenarios. In November 2024, the company raised nearly 100 million RMB in a Pre-A round. This was followed by a Pre-A+ round in July 2026, which brought in hundreds of millions of yuan from investors including Changfa Fund, Huakong Fund, and China Asset Management. These funds are allocated towards team expansion, product development, and increasing production capacity. The company has established a production base in Changping, Beijing, and has already accumulated over 100 million yuan in orders.
