About Yaozheng Quantum Technology
Origin Quantum Computing Technology (Yaozheng Quantum Technology), known as Benyuan Wuliang, is a Chinese quantum computing company established in 2017. The company's technical origins trace back to the Key Laboratory of Quantum Information at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). It was founded by a team from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) led by Guo Guangcan, a CAS academician and prominent expert in quantum optics and information, and Professor Guo Guoping, the company's chief scientist. Guo Guoping, who is also the deputy director of the CAS Key Laboratory of Quantum Information, is recognized as one of the first researchers in China to engage in the R&D and application of quantum computing.
Origin Quantum focuses on developing and commercializing quantum computers through a full-stack approach, encompassing hardware, software, cloud services, and applications. The company develops both superconducting and semiconductor quantum chips and has established what it calls China's first production line for quantum chips. Its product portfolio is extensive, including quantum chips, quantum measurement and control systems, quantum computer operating systems, quantum software, a quantum computing cloud platform, and application solutions for various industries. The business model involves the sale of quantum computing hardware and components, as well as providing quantum computing services through its cloud platform. The company targets sectors such as bioinformatics, chemical materials, financial analysis, and big data. For example, its technology has been applied to enhance the accuracy of HIV drug screening.
A significant milestone was the launch of its third-generation superconducting quantum computer, "Origin Wukong," in January 2024. This system is powered by the "Wukong Core," a 72-qubit superconducting quantum processor. The "Wukong" computer and its predecessors, "Wuyuan 1" and "Wuyuan 2," are accessible to global users through the Origin Quantum Cloud platform, which supports quantum programming and computation tasks. The launch of "Wukong" marked a notable step in making Chinese quantum computing resources widely available. In 2021, Origin Quantum delivered a 24-qubit quantum computer, making China the third country after the United States and Canada with the capability to deliver a complete quantum computer system.
The company has outlined a technical roadmap with the goal of reaching 1,024 qubits by 2025 and developing specialized quantum computers for specific industry applications. Origin Quantum has received significant funding, including a Series A round of several hundred million RMB in 2021, to advance its R&D of practical quantum computers and core technologies.
