Founded in 2000, Xigo began its journey as Invoice Insight, establishing itself in Manassas, Virginia, as a specialized provider of telecommunications expense management (TEM) solutions. The firm secured a significant Series B funding round on May 4, 2000, raising $22 million from investors including New Enterprise Associates and Capital Z Partners, which marked a key milestone in its growth.

Xigo developed a cloud-based platform designed to offer businesses comprehensive control over their mobile and fixed telecommunications costs. The service automated the uploading of wireless bills to generate immediate analysis of mobile expenditures, providing advanced reporting and invoice logging. This system catered to the full spectrum of enterprise communications expense management needs, helping clients to streamline operations and identify cost-saving opportunities across their entire telecommunications lifecycle, from spend analysis and sourcing to provisioning and invoice processing.

The company's trajectory took a significant turn in February 2012 when it was acquired by Dimension Data, a global IT solutions and services provider. This acquisition was a strategic move for Dimension Data to enhance its managed communications service offerings and expand its client value with an integrated cost optimization solution. Following the acquisition, Xigo was rebranded as Dimension Data CLM. The deal allowed Xigo's expertise in TEM to be integrated into Dimension Data's global footprint, offering enhanced services to multinational corporations. At the time of the acquisition, Dave Spofford was the CEO of Xigo and continued to lead the team within Dimension Data.
