A significant development occurred in March 2017 when Bharti Airtel acquired Tikona's 4G business, including its Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) spectrum in five telecom circles, for approximately Rs 1,600 crore. This deal was part of Airtel's strategy to expand its 4G spectrum footprint to compete with other major players in the Indian telecom market. Following this transaction, Tikona's home wireless broadband (WIPRO) business was absorbed into Tikona Infinet Limited. More recently, in November 2024, Tikona was acquired by SAR Televenture.
