The company was founded by a management team led by Mr. Yongjun Wang. Mr. Wang's journey into logistics began after his role as a management consultant for A.T. Kearney, where he assisted in the overhaul of TNT Hoau. This experience in the logistics sector led him to ANE, which initially started as an air freight forwarder.

ANE's business model is a notable departure from traditional logistics operations. Confronted with the high costs and managerial complexities of a direct-operation model, the company pivoted to a franchise-based structure. This strategic shift involves a three-tier system comprising the headquarters, directly supervised distribution centers, and franchised outlets. This approach effectively creates a logistics startup platform, leveraging the entrepreneurial drive of franchisees while maintaining centralized control over key aspects like branding and information flow. By the end of 2015, this network had already expanded to over 10,000 outlets and 157 distribution centers. The company serves a diverse client base, including e-commerce businesses, manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, and individuals.

The company's core service revolves around its LTL express network, which provides national coverage across China, reaching approximately 96% of the country's counties and townships. ANE has integrated technology into its operations, developing 48 IT systems to digitize the entire logistics process, from real-time data tracking and smart route planning to automated customer service. In addition to its primary LTL services, ANE also offers full-truckload (FTL) options. The company has received significant financial backing from prominent investors, including Sequoia Capital, Warburg Pincus, The Carlyle Group, and Goldman Sachs. In November 2021, ANE (Cayman) Inc., the holding company, was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, raising approximately HK$1.11 billion to fund the acquisition and upgrade of transit hubs, expand its truck fleet, and invest in further technological development.
