Serviz secured significant funding, including a $10.7 million round in February 2014 with a large portion from Groupon, and a $12.5 million Series B in December 2014 led by PointGuard Ventures. The business model involved taking a percentage of the service cost, typically between 20% and 30%.
Serviz offered a range of services including handyman work, plumbing, appliance repair, electrical work, and carpet cleaning. The platform vetted and background-checked its service professionals, who were covered by the company's insurance policy. By March 2018, the company had expanded its network to 31 cities across the U.S. In August 2018, Serviz was acquired by Porch, a home services software company.
