Seculert

Seculert was an Israeli cybersecurity firm established in 2010, positioning itself as a specialist in detecting advanced persistent threats (APTs) and other forms of malware that bypass traditional security defenses. The company was founded by Dudi Matot, who served as CEO, Aviv Raff as CTO, and Alex Milstein as COO. Raff brought extensive experience from his time as the RSA FraudAction Research Lab Manager, while Matot's background included a product manager role at SanDisk. This collective expertise in security research and product strategy shaped the company's focus on identifying threats that had already infiltrated a network.

The firm's business model was centered on a cloud-based, software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform that provided breach detection without requiring customers to install any hardware or software. Its revenue was generated through subscriptions to this platform. Seculert's technology distinguished itself by focusing on the communication between infected devices and their command-and-control servers, a critical phase in the cyberattack lifecycle. This was achieved through a multi-layered approach that included botnet interception, traffic log analysis, and an elastic sandbox environment for malware analysis. The platform analyzed large volumes of data to identify malicious patterns and anomalies, effectively uncovering compromised devices, including mobile and remote assets, across a client's network.

The company gained recognition for identifying significant threats, such as the Mahdi and Xtreme RAT malware campaigns. After securing over $15 million in venture funding from investors like YL Ventures, Norwest Venture Partners, and Sequoia Capital, Seculert was acquired by Radware in January 2017. The acquisition aimed to integrate Seculert's machine learning, big data analytics, and behavioral analysis capabilities into Radware's attack mitigation system, enhancing its ability to detect stealthy attack campaigns.
