About Scopio Labs

Scopio Labs is a health technology company based in Tel Aviv, Israel, that is digitizing hematology through its computational microscopy and AI-powered platforms. The company was founded in 2014 by Itai Hayut (CEO) and Erez Na'aman (CTO). The co-founders, who met while studying applied physics at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, were inspired to create Scopio after observing the manual and labor-intensive processes of cell counting in hematology labs. Realizing there was no scanner on the market capable of digitizing entire microscopy slides at the required resolution, they decided to build their own.

Scopio Labs develops platforms that combine computational photography with AI to offer full-field digital imaging and analysis of blood and bone marrow samples. This technology addresses the long-standing trade-off between a wide field of view and high resolution in microscopy, allowing lab professionals to view the entire sample area at 100X magnification. The company’s products include the Scopio X100 and the high-throughput X100HT platforms. These systems feature applications like the Full-Field Peripheral Blood Smear (FF-PBS), which automates the analysis of white and red blood cells and provides platelet estimates. Another key offering is the Full-Field Bone Marrow Aspirate™ (FF-BMA) application, the first of its kind to receive De Novo clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), establishing a new regulatory category for digital BMA analysis.

The company serves hospitals and hematology laboratories, aiming to improve diagnostic efficiency and accuracy. Its platforms streamline laboratory workflows, reduce turnaround times by up to 60%, and enable remote analysis and collaboration among specialists through secure hospital networks. The business model involves the sale of these digital microscopy systems and their accompanying software applications. The company has forged strategic partnerships for global distribution, including with Siemens Healthineers and Beckman Coulter. Scopio Labs has secured significant funding, with a total of over $125 million raised across multiple rounds from investors such as Fortissimo Capital, OurCrowd, and Viola Growth.
