The company raised a $15.75 million seed round led by Accel in early 2026, followed by a $35 million Series A led by Dragonfly just six months later, bringing its total funding to over $50 million within its first year. Sapiom's core business revolves around enabling 'programmatic commerce' for the 'agentic economy,' a future where non-human AI agents transact and interact with real-world services. Its platform acts as a clearing layer that sits between AI agents and third-party services like APIs, cloud compute, and data providers. This allows agents to autonomously access and pay for resources without direct human intervention for each transaction. The business model addresses the escalating and unpredictable costs of running AI agents, a primary reason Gartner predicts over 40% of such projects will be canceled by 2027.

The product suite includes several key components. Sapiom Router dynamically selects the most cost-effective and capable large language model (LLM) for a given task in real-time, significantly reducing inference costs for clients. For example, it reportedly helped one customer lower their monthly token bill from $1.2 million to approximately $100,000. Sapiom Agent Studio offers a development environment to build and test agents, while Sapiom Runtime provides the managed infrastructure for production deployment, complete with observability, budget controls, and security policies like Know-Your-Agent (KYA).
