ReMYND

ReMYND NV is a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing oral therapeutics for neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's and Huntington's disease. Founded in 2002 as a spin-off from the University of Leuven in Belgium, the company aims to create treatments that restore neuronal function and slow disease progression by targeting the underlying mechanisms of these conditions.

The company's therapeutic pipeline includes small molecule candidates designed to address cellular dysfunction. Its lead Alzheimer's program, REM392 (previously ReS19-T), is an orally available small molecule that targets the dysregulation of calcium homeostasis, a process linked to synaptic dysfunction and the buildup of amyloid-beta plaques and tau tangles. This approach has the potential to offer both symptomatic relief and disease modification. The program completed a Phase 1 study, which demonstrated a strong safety profile and excellent brain exposure, and has advanced into a Phase 2a trial. Another key candidate, REM0046127, showed promising results in a Phase 2a trial by improving memory in participants with mild-to-moderate Alzheimer's after 28 days of treatment. For Huntington's disease, reMYND is developing REM949, a brain-permeable oral drug candidate designed to neutralize the neurotoxic effects of the mutated huntingtin (mHtt) protein.

Initially, reMYND operated with a dual-focus business model, utilizing a Contract Research Organization (CRO) division to support its drug discovery efforts. This CRO unit provided preclinical modeling services for neurodegenerative diseases to a global client base, including major pharmaceutical companies in the US, Europe, and Japan. In March 2025, reMYND divested its CRO business to InnoSer to concentrate exclusively on its drug development programs.

ReMYND has secured significant funding to advance its clinical trials. In December 2018, it raised an initial EUR 12 million in a Series B round, which was extended with an additional EUR 12 million in January 2021, bringing the total to EUR 24 million. This financing was supported by a consortium of investors, including Korys Investments, FPIM, KU Leuven, PMV, and BNP Paribas Fortis Private Equity.
