About Reaction Dynamics

Reaction Dynamics is a Canadian aerospace company, founded in 2017 by Bachar Elzein, that is developing launch vehicles and propulsion systems. The company is headquartered in Longueuil, Quebec, within the region's Aerospace Innovation Zone. Elzein, who serves as CEO and CTO, founded the company while working as a research assistant at Polytechnique Montréal, where he focused on hybrid rocket propellants.

The company's core technology is a patented hybrid rocket engine that addresses a long-standing challenge in propulsion by stabilizing the oxidizer-to-fuel ratio during combustion. This system combines a non-toxic, storable solid fuel with a liquid oxidizer, which simplifies the engine architecture to about a dozen parts compared to thousands in traditional liquid-fueled engines. This design is intended to increase safety, reduce operational complexity, and lower launch costs. The firm's rockets are designed for rapid deployment from mobile launch infrastructure, providing operational flexibility for both commercial and defense clients.

Reaction Dynamics' primary launch vehicle is the Aurora. This two-stage rocket is designed to carry payloads of up to 200kg into Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and aims to provide an on-demand, cost-effective launch solution for small satellite operators. The company also develops in-space propulsion solutions, including a Micro Orbital Transfer Vehicle (OTV) for smallsat mobility. Its business model focuses on offering dedicated launch services at a price point competitive with rideshare options, giving clients control over launch timing and trajectory.

The company has secured significant funding, including a CAD $14 million Series A round in June 2025, bringing its total funding to CAD $38 million from a mix of private investment and public support. It has also won a million-dollar investment from Tim Draper's venture capital firm. Reaction Dynamics has established key partnerships, including a pathfinder launch agreement with Maritime Launch Services to conduct an orbital launch from Spaceport Nova Scotia, and a commercial multi-launch services agreement with Galaxia. A maiden suborbital flight is scheduled for 2026, with the first orbital launch planned for 2028.
