Peat's journey began in 2010, transitioning from conventional electrical work to renewable solutions, driven by the fluctuating government incentives for solar energy adoption. This experience led to the formation of Project Better Energy, which has since grown to become a significant provider in the UK's green technology sector, employing approximately 300 people and generating around £100 million in annual sales. The company's growth was further bolstered in October 2023 through a strategic investment from private equity firm Freshstream, aimed at accelerating expansion.

The company operates through several specialized divisions: Project Solar UK, Project EV, and Project CÜRV. Project Solar UK focuses on the installation of solar energy systems, having installed nearly 40,000 units. Project EV is a major UK manufacturer of electric vehicle charging points, supplying approximately 80,000 chargers to residential, commercial, and public sector clients, including the NHS and major retailers. Project CÜRV provides a holistic approach by integrating various technologies like solar roofing, EV chargers, infrared heating panels, and battery storage to reduce overall energy bills. Their business model includes direct sales and installation, as well as forming relationships with housebuilders and housing associations to incorporate their technology into new builds.
