Nuclear Turbines

Nuclear Turbines is a University of Manchester deep-tech spinout developing a compact, direct-cycle modular high-temperature reactor built around mature commercial gas-turbine technology. Rather than designing a reactor first and solving power conversion later, the company starts from the electricity-generating system: the reactor directly heats compressed air before returning it to a commercial gas turbine at high temperature to generate electricity. The approach targets the lowest possible cost of nuclear power through efficiency, design simplicity, true modularity and the use of off-the-shelf components where the market has already solved the problem.
