NKGen Biotech is a clinical-stage biotechnology company that focuses on developing and commercializing cell therapies to address neurodegenerative and oncological diseases. A key feature of SNK01 is that it is not genetically modified, which may reduce the risk of certain side effects compared to other cell therapies like CAR-T. SNK01 is being investigated in clinical trials for its potential to cross the blood-brain barrier to reduce neuroinflammation and protein aggregates associated with Alzheimer's disease. Early phase 1 trial results have shown the therapy to be well-tolerated and demonstrated stable or improved outcomes in a high percentage of subjects.

In addition to SNK01 for neurodegenerative diseases, NKGen is developing SNK02, an allogeneic 'off-the-shelf' therapy derived from healthy donors for treating solid tumors. This product is notable because it is being studied without the need for lymphodepletion, a harsh pre-treatment regimen typically required for cell therapies. The company is also exploring combination therapies, pairing its NK cells with other treatments like checkpoint inhibitors. Through its Expanded Access Program (EAP), NKGen provides its investigational therapy, troculeucel, to a limited number of patients with neurodegenerative diseases who cannot participate in clinical trials.

The company is led by Chairman and CEO Paul Y. Song, M.D., who was appointed CEO in January 2023 and took on the Chairman role in March 2024.
