MyEdu

MyEdu was an Austin, Texas-based education technology company founded in 2008 by Michael K. Crosno, who also served as its CEO and Chairman. Initially launched as Pick-A-Prof, a website for students to rate their professors, it was renamed MyEdu a year later. The company shifted its focus to providing a comprehensive platform for college students to manage their academic journey and connect with potential employers.

The business operated on a freemium model, offering its core academic planning tools to students for free. These tools helped students map out their degree paths, select courses, and track their grades, utilizing data from over 800 schools. The platform's primary function was to enable students to create a detailed professional profile that showcased their coursework, skills, and experiences in a more visual and organized format than a traditional resume. This profile was passively built as students used the platform's academic planning features.

Revenue was generated through "MyEdu for Employers," a service launched in late 2012 that allowed businesses to recruit students for jobs and internships. Companies like Cisco and Macy's used the platform to identify qualified candidates based on specific majors, skills, and coursework, and to connect with them directly. This created a direct bridge between higher education and the workforce. By 2014, the platform had attracted about one million student users.

In January 2014, MyEdu was acquired by Blackboard Inc., a major learning management system (LMS) provider. The acquisition was described as strategic, aiming to integrate MyEdu's student-centric profile and career connection tools into Blackboard's extensive LMS. The goal was to better connect the educational experience with career transitions. Following the acquisition, MyEdu's platform and its approximately 20 employees were absorbed into Blackboard. The MyEdu.com service was officially shut down on September 30, 2016.
