In 2008, the idea for a new kind of pipeline was conceived in Australia, aiming to solve the age-old problems of corrosion and joint failures that plague traditional steel pipes. This led to the formation of Long Pipes Pty Ltd, founded by a team that includes Neil Graham and Vance Moore. Their vision was to create a continuous, seamless composite pipe manufactured on-site, a concept they named The Fluid Highway®. The company developed a groundbreaking mobile production unit capable of manufacturing a flexible, lightweight, and durable composite pipe directly in the field. This process significantly reduces the need for joints, a common failure point in conventional pipelines. After initial development, Long Pipes completed its first commercial projects in 2016 for Harvey Water in Western Australia, proving the technology's viability in a real-world setting. A key turning point came in 2017 when the company transitioned from a private entity to a public unlisted company, Long Pipes Limited. This change facilitated further investment and growth. By 2019, the company secured a joint venture with a U.S. partner and shipped its upgraded manufacturing equipment to a new facility in New Mexico, marking a significant international expansion. The company has successfully raised capital through multiple funding rounds, including a notable $37.5 million in later-stage venture funding in early 2025, to scale its operations globally.
