About LifeBEAM

LifeBEAM, established in 2011, originated from a mission to enhance physiological monitoring in extreme environments. The company was founded by former Israeli Air Force pilots Omri Yoffe and Zvika Orron, who identified a critical need for reliable biometric data to prevent fatalities among pilots and astronauts subjected to intense physical challenges. This led to the development of their initial products: advanced sensors integrated into helmets to track vital signs like heart rate and blood flow for aerospace and special forces applications. Organizations such as the Israeli Air Force, the U.S. Air Force, and NASA have utilized LifeBEAM's technology.

Leveraging its expertise in bio-sensing, LifeBEAM transitioned into the consumer market, focusing on fitness and wellness wearables. The company's business model involved both licensing its technology to major brands and developing its own consumer products. LifeBEAM's sensor and algorithm technology was integrated into products from partners like Samsung, Under Armour, and Lazer Helmets. A significant milestone was the creation of the Vi, a wearable A.I. personal trainer delivered through Harmon Kardon-engineered earphones. This device featured bio-sensors in the earbuds to track metrics like heart rate, motion, and elevation, providing real-time coaching and personalized feedback to users. To fund this venture, LifeBEAM ran a highly successful Kickstarter campaign in 2016, raising $1.68 million. The company also developed other consumer products, including a smart helmet for cyclists and a smart hat for runners, which integrated their aerospace-grade sensor technology to monitor performance data. The company's funding included a notable Series A round of $16 million in March 2016, bringing its total investment to over $18 million.
