The company was founded in 2014 in Herzliya, Israel, by a team of serial entrepreneurs: Asaf Somekh (CEO), Yaron Haviv (CTO), Yaron Segev (COO), and Orit Nissan-Messing (VP Architecture). The founding team possessed extensive experience in enterprise analytics and AI, having held senior positions at companies like XtremIO (acquired by EMC), XIV (acquired by IBM), Mellanox (acquired by Nvidia), and Voltaire. Their shared goal was to address the significant gap between the potential of AI and its actual business impact, as many AI projects failed to move from the lab to production.

Iguazio's platform streamlines the entire machine learning lifecycle through automation and orchestration. Key features include a feature store for managing data inputs for ML models, ML pipeline automation, serverless functions for scalable compute, and robust model monitoring. The platform is built to handle both real-time and batch data processing, ingesting structured and unstructured data from any source. It supports deployment across multi-cloud, on-premises, and edge environments. The company serves a wide range of industries, including financial services, telecommunications, manufacturing, and healthcare, with use cases like real-time fraud prediction, recommendation engines, and predictive maintenance.

Before its acquisition, Iguazio raised approximately $72 million from investors including Magma Venture Partners, Pitango, Samsung Venture Investment, Verizon Ventures, and Dell. In January 2023, McKinsey & Company acquired Iguazio for an estimated $50 million. Following the acquisition, Iguazio and its team of over 70 experts became part of QuantumBlack, McKinsey's AI division. This integration aims to combine Iguazio's technology with QuantumBlack's expertise to deliver industry-specific AI solutions, accelerating AI deployment for clients.
