Humanoid

Humanoid is a UK-based AI and robotics company founded in 2024 by serial entrepreneur Artem Sokolov. The company's creation was inspired by Sokolov's observation of the monotonous labor his grandparents endured, which fueled his mission to free people from repetitive tasks through robotics. Before Humanoid, Sokolov scaled a family manufacturing business into a billion-dollar enterprise, earning the EY Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2021. Humanoid is developing general-purpose humanoid robots designed to be commercially scalable, safe, and capable of seamless integration into human environments. This robot stands 175 cm tall, weighs 70 kg, has a payload capacity of 15 kg, and can walk at 1.5 m/s with a 4-hour runtime. A key feature of Humanoid's robots is their modular design, allowing for customizable configurations of the upper body, lower body, and end-effectors to meet specific client needs and reduce costs. They are also developing both wheeled and bipedal platforms.

The business model focuses on providing a low total cost of ownership to enable mass commercialization. The initial target market includes retail, e-commerce, third-party logistics (3PL), manufacturing, and automotive industries, which represent a significant global workforce. Humanoid aims to address labor shortages and enhance productivity by automating tasks such as goods handling, picking, packing, and kitting. By leveraging advancements in generative AI and multi-modal models, the robots can learn through observation and imitation, enhancing their adaptability and efficiency.
