Flourish

Flourish is an artificial intelligence research company focused on developing a new generation of brain-inspired AI systems that are significantly more energy efficient and capable of continuous learning. Founded in 2025 by former Amazon executive Rob Williams and neuroscientist Thomas Reardon, the company brings together AI researchers and neuroscientists to investigate the biological principles underlying human intelligence and apply them to future AI architectures.

The company’s central mission is to identify what its founders describe as the brain’s “core algorithm” — the fundamental computational principles that enable humans to learn efficiently, adapt continuously, and operate using a fraction of the energy consumed by modern AI systems. Rather than scaling existing large language model architectures, Flourish is pursuing a neuroscience-driven approach that combines experimental brain research, connectomics, and machine learning.

By 2026, Flourish had reportedly raised approximately $500 million and achieved a valuation of around $2.5 billion, making it one of the most heavily funded neuroscience-focused AI startups.
