The company was founded in 2024 by Ayyappan R, an e-commerce veteran who previously served as CEO of Cleartrip, Chief Business Officer at Myntra, and SVP at Flipkart. His background in scaling large retail and tech businesses informed FirstClub's strategy to address a market gap for consumers who prioritize quality and transparency over just speed.

The business operates on a member-first, omnichannel model that combines 30-minute deliveries from its 'clubhouses' (rebranded dark stores) with plans for physical experience centers and cafés. Its revenue model is expected to center on a subscription-based membership, direct product sales, and brand partnerships, distinguishing itself from competitors that rely on ad monetization. FirstClub launched operations in Bengaluru in June 2025, starting with four clubhouses and a team of 185.

The platform offers over 4,000 SKUs, focusing initially on groceries, fresh produce, dairy, bakery, and nutrition products, with 95% sourced locally. A key differentiator is its strict curation process, which includes banning over 200 harmful additives and independently testing staples like milk and oils. The company plans to expand its product lines to include categories such as pet food, home care, fashion, and furnishings. This strategy has resulted in average order values double that of competitors and a 60% repeat purchase rate shortly after launch.

FirstClub has secured significant investor confidence, raising an $8 million seed round in December 2024, followed by a $23 million Series A in September 2025. The Series A round, co-led by Accel and RTP Global, valued the company at $120 million. Prominent backers include Blume Ventures, Aditya Birla Ventures, and angel investors such as Binny Bansal (Flipkart founder) and Kunal Shah (CRED founder). The fresh capital is earmarked for expanding its network to 35 clubhouses in Bengaluru, launching new formats like daily subscriptions, and hiring talent.
