EMO Energy

EMO Energy is a Bengaluru-based deep energy-tech startup founded in February 2022 by Sheetanshu Tyagi and Rahul Patel. The co-founders, who previously worked together at Ola Electric, bring extensive experience from roles at Tesla, Rivian, Ather, General Motors, and Sun Mobility. Patel, an IIT Bombay alumnus, has a decade of experience in battery engineering, while Tyagi, a Virginia Tech graduate, was part of the core team that developed the battery architecture at Rivian. EMO Energy provides a full-stack energy ecosystem for the mobility and logistics sectors, integrating proprietary battery packs, fast-charging hardware, and energy management software. EMO's core technology, the ZEN stack, is a cell-agnostic platform featuring a patented liquid-based active thermal management system and an AI-driven Battery Management System (BMS). This combination allows for a 20-minute fast charge, a battery life of over five years, and safe operation in high-temperature conditions, claiming a 120% improvement in battery life over competing products. EMO has developed a range of product lines to serve different market segments, including the ZEN PAC (1.5-4 kWh) for two and three-wheelers, the ZEN RIG (5-100 kWh) for more demanding applications, and the modular ZEN STAC (100 kWh to 1 GWh) for large-scale industrial energy storage. The company's clients include prominent names in logistics and quick commerce such as Kinetic Green, BigBasket, Domino's, and Blinkit. The business model includes direct sales of its hardware and a subscription-based Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) offering for fleet operators. Since its inception, EMO has raised a total of $7.86 million over four funding rounds. A significant Series A round in late 2024, led by Subhkam Ventures, secured $6.2 million. This capital is intended to scale its two- and three-wheeler energy solutions to over 100,000 vehicles, deploy 1 GWh of energy storage capacity, and enhance R&D in battery health software.
