Special waste management for industrial and medical sectors MoreLess
In 1988, in Genoa, Italy, Andrea and Rossella Giustini founded EcoEridania, starting as a small consultancy in the environmental sector. By 1991, they had pivoted into the hands-on business of collecting, transporting, and disposing of special waste, carving out a niche in the complex field of sanitary and industrial refuse. A pivotal moment arrived after the 2008 financial crisis. Facing a tough credit market, Andrea Giustini made a strategic decision to open the company to outside investment. In 2011, Fondo Italiano d'Investimento, an Italian investment fund, injected capital, marking the beginning of a new growth phase. This capital infusion fueled a series of acquisitions, significantly expanding the company's footprint. The next major chapter began in 2012 when Xenon Private Equity joined as an investor, co-financing the key acquisition of competitor Team Ambiente. This move solidified EcoEridania's market leadership in Northern and Central Italy. Over the next few years, with the backing of private equity, the company continued its aggressive growth-by-acquisition strategy. In 2018, a significant transaction occurred when Xenon sold its majority stake to the British infrastructure fund Icon Infrastructure, launching EcoEridania's next stage of industrial growth while the Giustini family retained a minority interest.
