About Sealien Robotics

Sealien Robotics, officially Deep Sea Homo Sapiens (Guangzhou) Technology Co., Ltd., develops and manufactures subsea intelligent robotic systems. Founded in 2021 by Ma Yiming and headquartered in Guangzhou, China, the company has reportedly grown rapidly, with a founding team composed of former engineers from a prominent European deep-sea robotics firm. Sealien addresses challenges in marine engineering, particularly for offshore wind farm cable installation which has traditionally relied on less automated and efficient equipment.

The company's product line includes remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), trenchers, and ploughs designed for deep-sea operations such as cable and pipeline burying. Their systems are engineered for functions at depths up to 3,000 meters, with some ROVs capable of reaching 10,000 meters. A notable product is the 'Taurus' robot, which is entirely developed and produced domestically in China. In early 2025, Sealien announced it had secured a contract with a major Chinese power engineering group for a high-end subsea cable burial plough system capable of trenching up to 6 meters deep at depths of 650 meters and laying two cables simultaneously. The firm also made a sale of a deep-sea surveillance system to an undisclosed buyer in the Middle East, a key market for subsea surveillance due to extensive offshore energy facilities.

Sealien's business model encompasses manufacturing and sales, as well as a suite of services including leasing, maintenance, technical support, and component supply. The company aims to provide a full-cycle service system, from research and development to delivery and after-sales support, to clients in the offshore energy and marine engineering sectors. The company has received funding from investors including Xingzhi Capital.
