Clickable
Marketing · New York City, United States · Founded 2006
Through technology-enabled services, we use data to achieve smarter marketing for the world’s largest brands. MoreLess
Founded in 2006 by David Kidder, Clickable emerged in New York City with the mission to simplify online advertising for marketers and agencies. The company developed a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform designed to provide powerful intelligence for social and search advertising campaigns. This web service enabled users to manage search marketing, automate reporting, and handle ad buying across multiple networks like Google, Facebook, and Bing through a single, intuitive dashboard.
Clickable's platform was engineered to consolidate complex data from various advertising channels, translating it into meaningful metrics and customer insights. This allowed clients to optimize their digital marketing spend, prove return on investment, and make more profitable advertising decisions. The service catered to a range of clients, from small and midsize businesses to large agencies within networks like WPP and Interpublic Group, and brands such as Ann Taylor and Etsy. Revenue was generated through its suite of online advertising management tools.
The company's journey included significant financial backing from prominent investors. Over seven funding rounds, Clickable raised a total of $32.6 million. Key investors included Founders Fund, Union Square Ventures, FirstMark Capital, and American Express. A notable Series B round in 2008, led by Founders Fund, secured $14.5 million, which was earmarked to accelerate product innovation and commercial expansion. By 2012, the firm had grown to a team of around 70 employees.
In June 2012, Clickable was acquired by Syncapse, a social media management company, in a deal valued at approximately $33 million, primarily in equity. The acquisition aimed to integrate Clickable's paid media and ad-buying technology with Syncapse's expertise in earned media analytics, creating a more comprehensive social marketing platform. Following the acquisition, Clickable's co-founder and CEO, David Kidder, transitioned to a strategic advisor role for Syncapse. Subsequently, in 2019, Brand Networks acquired the assets of Clickable. Today, the Clickable brand operates as a subsidiary of LookSmart Ltd., continuing to offer customized marketing intelligence solutions.
