Avertana

Chemicals · Auckland, New Zealand · Founded 2014

Circular economy technology to refine steelmaking waste into essential raw materials used to make everyday products with zero waste, no mining, less cost, and much lower CO2 emissions MoreLess

Avertana is a process technology company scaling up a proprietary pathway to transform waste slag from certain steel mills into a suite of mineral and chemical raw materials essential for making everyday products like paint, plastics, paper, fertilizers and building materials.

We collaborate with large industrial customers in steel, pigment, and diversified chemical manufacturing to build greener value chains and reduce cost and complexity. Our licensed technology unlocks value from solid steel making waste and provides a sustainable alternative to legacy pathways for making pigment and suite of other industrial goods.

Our technology and products are already proven a lab, pilot, and industrial pilot scale, and we are now working with our customer and engineering partner to design and construct a demonstration plant that will produce thousands of tonnes per year of products and act as a steppingstone to a first commercial plant.
