Aridditive

Aridditive is a technology company focused on the additive manufacturing segment of the construction industry. Founded in August 2023 by Roger Uceda (CEO), Arnau Cumelles (COO), Laura Calvo (Legal Regulations Advisor), and Louison Poudelet (3D Printing Research Advisor), the Barcelona-based firm originated as a spin-off from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and CIM UPC. The company is the culmination of over eight years of dedicated research in 3D concrete printing conducted at these institutions.

The firm develops and commercializes concrete 3D printers and associated technologies aimed at precast construction companies, architectural firms, and urban furniture manufacturers. Aridditive's business model includes Manufacturing as a Service, where it either prints components in-house or deploys its systems near a client's construction site with full technical support. The company's core technology, "Volta," is a proprietary 3D printing system for concrete that incorporates ISCEX (Instant Setting Concrete Extrusion). This technology uses accelerating additives and real-time process control to allow concrete to set almost instantly, which removes the need for traditional formwork and enables the creation of complex geometries. This process aims to reduce material usage, manufacturing time, and carbon emissions.

Complementing its hardware, Aridditive has developed TRACE, a digital traceability platform hosted on AWS. This system records all process data, allowing for quality and sustainability certification at the Scope 1 level. The company also operates the Aridditive Technology Innovation Center (ATIC) to foster advanced applications, collaborate with industry partners, and validate emerging technologies. In November 2024, Aridditive secured approximately €500,000 in a pre-seed funding round led by BeAble Capital and Suma Capital, supplemented by a Startup Capital grant from ACCIÓ. These funds are allocated to advance technology validation, with proof-of-concept trials planned by the end of 2024 and a market launch anticipated in spring 2025.
