Aprogen Inc., a South Korean biopharmaceutical entity, was established in March 2000 by Jaeseob Kim, alongside three faculty members from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and a principal investigator from the Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology (KRIBB). Its operations have also diversified into non-pharmaceutical areas like metal surface hardening.

Aprogen's product pipeline includes biosimilars for major biologics such as infliximab, trastuzumab, rituximab, and adalimumab. The company's infliximab biosimilar has been launched in Korea and Japan. In its novel drug development, Aprogen is advancing candidates like AP185 for vascular diseases and AP216 for various cancers. The company has built a portfolio of proprietary technologies which include a method for humanizing antibodies (SDR grafting), recombinant protein engineering to enhance stability and activity, and systems for developing high-productivity cell lines for manufacturing. This technological infrastructure supports the entire development process, from cell line creation to pre-clinical and clinical trials, enabling the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) at a significant scale.
